When I get what I want in my struggle for self
and the world makes me king for a day,
I go to the mirror and look at myself
to see what that man has to say.
That's the first stanza of a poem by the famous A. Nonymous called "the man in the mirror". I just completed my blog entry on Relationships for the Photographic Medium and I needed to remind myself that today is the only day that I have to appreciate someone, thank someone, ask for their forgiveness or forgive.
I cannot be so self-absorbed to forget that the world around me is not of my own making or doing, but rather a fluid collection of interesting, independent thinkers and doers. My place within that world will change even if I do not. I may sit perfectly still for 24 hours but that doesn't mean nothing in my life hasn't changed. I have thought new thoughts, created new ideas and the people and things around me have changed to affect who I am now compared to who I was then.
My Relationship post is a tribute and acknowledgment to one who has influenced my life beyond all others. If I only have today to speak to someone about who they are to me, let me speak eloquently and may my words make their heart sing.
Peace,
scott
